Big Lake Oil  Company's Oilers - National Semi-Pro Champions

In the Begining ...

The roots of the 

Sinton Plymouth Oilers begins with the Oilers of Big Lake Oil field in Texon. This picture is of the1928 Oilers from Big Lake Oil Field National Champions.

The Sinton Begining

in 1948, W.M. "Mike" Griffith is transferred to Sinton to a new drilling site for the Plymouth Oil Company. Mike had been the General Manager of the Big Lake Oilers in Texon. Soon Milt Witherspoon, Jimmie Grant and Malcom Burton also transferred to Sinton. The three employees had played for the Big Lake team and formed the Sinton Eagles to play in the Coastal Bend Semi-Pro League. Mike Griffith threw Plymouth Oil Company support to the team and were renamed the Plymouth Oilers.

New Stadium

In 1949, the Sinton Rotary Club announced the Oiler Park would be lighted for the 1950 season.

National Championship

In 1951 and in 1957 the Sinton Plymouth Oilers  won the National Semi-Pro Championships
